Ensuring Safe Transit: SAS’s Preservation Strategy for Critical Skid Components

Client:Branch of a major preservation company
Industry: Preservation Packing
Start & Completion Date:August 2015
Project Scope & Services Provided:Challenge: In August 2015, SAS was faced with the task of preserving three large skids in the northern Emirates, which were to be transported by sea from Dubai to Singapore. The critical components, including vessels, exchangers, filters, tank internals, valves, pumps, and junction boxes, were at high risk of corrosion and damage due to exposure to harsh marine conditions. Ensuring the effective preservation of these parts throughout the sea voyage posed a significant challenge.

Solution:ย To address these challenges, SAS implemented a comprehensive preservation strategy. They fogged the vessels and tank internals with VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) liquid and inserted emitter plugs in all junction boxes and pumps for ongoing protection. Additionally, they employed Rust Preventive Spray, Denso tapes, and VCI shrink wraps to safeguard the components further. This thorough approach ensured the critical parts were well-preserved and the project was completed within the given timeframe, ready for the sea journey.
