| Project Scope & Services Provided: | Challenge: The primary challenge was that fully inflated pneumatic fenders have a very unstable center of gravity. This instability made the fenders highly susceptible to shifting during transportation. If they were not properly lashed and secured, even a slight jerk could potentially overturn the truck, posing significant risks during transit. Solution: SAS proposed shrink wrapping of the cargo with Dr Shrink wrap. The client was initially apprehensive whether such a big skid could be shrink wrapped in a short time and whether the wrapping can withstand heavy rains and storms. The client was given a 2 year warranty for the wrapping to assure them of our product quality and workmanship. Results: Fenders remained stable and did not bulge excessively on any side, even when the transportation vehicle encountered bumps or made turns. This lashing strategy helped maintain the balance of the load, minimizing the risk of accidents during transportation. |
